Don’t rush to run for dessert, this doesn’t apply to everyone.

The human body needs fat — sometimes it can prolong life. This conclusion was reached by the doctor Myasnikov, who experienced this from his own experience.

When are extra pounds beneficial?

Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke in his program about the benefits of excess weight. According to the expert, despite many negative consequences, excess weight can sometimes prolong life.

“Scientific evidence says that an elderly person (over 65 years old) with increased body weight lives longer than with normal weight. An elderly person needs a little extra,” said the doctor. Myasnikov emphasized that losing weight in adulthood is extremely difficult, because “the body will fight for every kilogram.”

The doctor also spoke about his recent trip to Elbrus, during which, despite good nutrition, he was able to lose three kilograms. Myasnikov achieved this result with the help of physical activity, so he advised everyone to monitor their diet and lead an active lifestyle.

But is excess weight still harmful?

The thesis expressed by Myasnikov should not be misleading. Before this, the doctor had already spoken out about the problem of obesity, warning Russians. It is believed that an overweight person lives on average 15 years less. However, as Alexander Myasnikov noted, this is not always the case.

The doctor noted: recent studies have shown that there is a group of people who naturally have a large body weight. Yes, they have fat cells, but they also have normal sugar, normal blood pressure and normal cholesterol, they are metabolically healthy. But thin people can have a whole bunch of diseases.

“If you are thin and have a watermelon on your stomach, this is already much worse, because this indicates metabolic syndrome. This suggests that diabetes, coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke are ahead. Therefore, you need to watch your waist,” said the doctor.
