“Significantly ahead of everyone else”: Cristiano Ronaldo named the strongest football league in the world

The Portuguese criticized the US championship, to which Lionel Messi recently moved.

Al-Nasr forward Cristiano Ronaldo said he is not considering a return to the European championships. And he noted that the quality of football there has greatly decreased.

Why did Ronaldo criticize football in Europe?

Cristiano is 38 years old and admitted that he will not return to the European championships. The reason is not only age, but also the low quality of football:

“I will not return to European football, the door is completely closed. European football has lost a lot in quality… Only the Premier League is really strong, it is far ahead of all other leagues.”

What does Ronaldo think about other championships?

Ronaldo has been playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nasr since January 2023. The player’s contract with the club runs until June 30, 2025. He is confident that this is a good championship, much stronger than the American one, where his longtime rival Lionel Messi recently moved:

“Moving to MLS? No, the Saudi Arabian league is better than MLS. I opened the way to the Saudi Arabian championship in January last year, and now all the players are coming here.

When I joined Juventus, Serie A was dead, and then when I joined it came back to life. Wherever Cristiano is, he attracts more interest.”

Ronaldo believes he was unfairly criticized for his move to Al-Nasr. He believes that people come to the league not only to finish the game, young stars also appear here:

“I was criticized for moving to the Saudi Arabian Championship, but what happens now? I opened the path and now all players go here. There will be more and more top footballers here throughout the year.

In a year, the Saudi league will overtake the league of Turkey and the Netherlands. The players who came here are not what the President of the European Union said. Jota and Ruben Neves are young players.”
