International skateboarding games will be held in Kazan

Athletes from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Bulgaria and Russia will take part in the competition.

Phygital skateboarding games will be held in Kazan on July 14–15 as part of the large-scale festival of youth street culture Urban Games. The festival will take place in Europe’s largest extreme park, Uram.

Competitors will first show their skateboarding skills on the sports field and then demonstrate tricks in a skateboarding simulator. In total, 8 teams will compete at the competition, each with two skateboarders in the main lineup and one in reserve. Athletes from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Bulgaria and Russia will come to test their strength. In addition, the guest of the competition will be two-time Olympic champion in snowboarding, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Vic Wild.

“First of all, I will note the format of the competition. I immediately said that this was brilliant. This is the future of any sports discipline. For the game, my team and I prepared at my house, meeting every other day. They played and repeated each other’s tricks. And in the mornings we went to the park to train,” said Yegor Kaldikov, a member of the Russian skateboarding team, about his team’s preparation.

The Phygital Games are a series of test competitions in physical disciplines that precede the Future Games, which include competition in 16 hybrid sports. All athletes perform twice: first online, then on a real site, testing both physical fitness and digital dexterity. The “Games of the Future” tournament will be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 2, 2024.
